Patrol Division

Photo: New Patrol CarThe Patrol Division is under the command of the Lieutenant. The Lieutenant supervises four (4) Patrol Sergeants who directly supervise the four (4) Patrol Shifts. Each shift has a total of four (4) Police Officers including the Sergeant.  The Patrol Division works 12-hour shifts. 

The Patrol Division operates 24-hours a day, 7 days a week and provides law enforcement services throughout the City of Pendleton. Our Police Officers respond to a variety of calls for service and enforce Municipal Ordinance, Oregon Traffic Code, Oregon Revised Statutes and Federal Statutes.  The call for service include a variety of topics: civil matters, traffic crashes, traffic violations, vandalisms, assaults, child abuse, sexual assaults, burglaries, arsons, homicides, explosive devices and counterfeiting.

In response to a call for service Officer’s will respond and conduct an impartial investigation relating to violations of statutes.  The Officers will compile the facts and circumstances into crime reports and when appropriate take the offender into custody.   Our Officers are encouraged to maintain a proactive presence in the community on patrol.

Our Police Officers are continually striving to provide quality customer service to the citizens we serve.  The Officers are required to attend and participate in a minimum of 60 hours of annual training.  The Officers are strongly encouraged to obtain more training than the minimum requirements and to enroll in continuing education courses.

Specialized units, such as the Narcotics K-9 Team, Drug Recognition Experts, Motors, Accident Reconstruction, Field Training Officers and Reserve Officer Program are also under the command of the Patrol Division.
